First, I want to applaud and say how much I respect the incredible work that neonatal collaboratives have done to improve care and outcomes over the last 20+ years.
They have, without a doubt, made significant contributions to our field.
Despite this, I still saw a gap.
What I believe sets SBNQCC apart is our focus on bedside nursing care and immediate, actionable steps.
Unlike VON, which is heavily research-driven (again, not a bad thing), SBNQCC is led by nurses for nurses. We emphasize practical bedside nursing tools that can be applied right away, making a tangible, and almost immediate, impact on the care we provide daily.
Many times the impact of interventions and initiatives proposed by VON or other Statewide collaboratives can take years, if not decades, to be seen. Their toolkits, research protocols, and data collection tools have to be developed, researched, and analyzed; before they can be disseminated widely, and eventually integrated into the standard of care.
Although this process is vitally important, we wanted to create something that could have a more immediate impact on the babies we are all caring for TODAY.
Since starting the SBNQCC, I’ve noticed something else incredible given the current climate of healthcare. Instead of hearing our members complain about burnout and short-staffing, I’m hearing them share stories of renewed enthusiasm and excitement for the work that they do.
Nurses in the SBNQCC collaborative are bringing back information from our monthly sessions to share with their unit, setting up meetings with their nursing leadership and their MD champions, and sharing what they are learning with others. This is causing unit-wide engagement and enthusiasm too.
It might not be measurable, but you would probably agree, that it's incredible to hear about these positive shifts in unit culture.
Absolutely, we offer 1.5 contact hours for every monthly session. That's 18 for the entire 12 months. Plus we have a couple bonus webinars we have included for additional CE credit.
Yes, we record all the live sessions and make them available in your member dashboard along with all the resources that we create and collect from other members.
Again, the answer is YES! Even though we will go through these topics again in 2025, you can have access to the 2024 live call and all their resources now. I'm sure there will be even more to share when we get back around to these topics in 9 months. But in the meantime, if you want to work on your admission and golden hour process, improve temp, skin, or infection before next year, you can access everything you need to get started now.
What if I am the only one from my hospital joining SBNQCC?
Although we do have teams of nurses who join SBNQCC it is absolutely fine to join as the sole champion from your unit. You will have the tools to bring back ideas and take on projects in your NICU. And, if you need support, that's what we are here for.
